Coryat's Crudities is a travel book by Thomas Coryate, an English traveller and writer. An uncommon, limited edition published in 1905 by J. MacLehose and Sons in Glasgow. It is a reprint of the original edition of 1611, with some additions and extracts from other sources. It is illustrated with nine plates, four of which are folding, and one in-text illustration. It contains anecdotes, observations, and descriptions of the places and people he encountered in Europe. It also has many letters, poems, and commendations from his friends and admirers, including Ben Jonson and John Donne. Additional remarks: Red cloth hardback with gilt medalions and lettering. Mild stains on volume 2 cover. Small bookshop stamp (The Times Book Club) on back pastedown, left bottom corner. Dewey decimals on spine for both volume. Spines are sun-faded with wear to crown and tail. Rough cut pages with gilt top edges. Bumping to corners, edges and spine. Yellowed endpapers.
