Raphaelle, a forest warden, lives alone with her beloved dog Coyote in a caravan deep in the Canadian woods. Fiercely independent and cut off from civilisation, she is always armed, defending the bears, raccoons and lynxes she lives amongst from sadistic poachers.

When Raphaelle discovers animal footprints outside her home, and her dog vanishes soon after, Raphaelle herself becomes the prey of the forest's ultimate predator ... not animal, but man.

She plots her revenge patiently. How far will she go to protect herself and her world?

Gabrielle Filteau-Chiba is a writer and environmental activist from Quebec. In the winter of 2013, she left her job, home and family in Montreal, sold all her worldly belongings and moved into a wooden cabin in the remote Kamouraska region. Feral is her second novel.
